Here's my pal, Carol, who completed her Striped Shoulder Bag. It was published in Knit n' Style in June 2010, but now is a FREE pattern offered by Coats & Clark.

Carol was able to find the handles easily at our local JoAnn's store. Great job, Carol!

Photo Friday

It's a long story, but here is the Carousel Capelet I made for Chickee. She didn't want the flower on it.  It's in Stitch Nation Yarn, Alpaca Love.  I'm not sure who designed it, the project page says Heather Dixon, but it also says Debbie Stoller, so maybe it was a joint effort. The is an adult "small" and you can see it fits Chickee well. In this same booklet (that is available as an e-book) you can also get my "Over the Rainbow Baby Blanket" stitched in Bamboo Ewe.

Shifting Skies

I didn't get any crocheting done this weekend, but I wore crochet and it was still a great weekend!  Chief had his First Holy Communion, a very important day for our family.  Ah, the sound of children singing makes me teary.  Chief did a reading in front of the full church. We're so proud.

Tara's Tunisian Scarf

 Here's the first one I made, out of Blue Sky Alpacas, Royal Alpaca.  So indulgent.

And this is the one I made for Interweave Crochet, Accessories issue, in Lorna's Laces Pearl.  Also, lovely.
I sent the peach one in with my submission proposal and I just got it back the other day!  Yay! Another scarf to add to my daily collection.  

Charlie

Sitting on a blanket I made years ago is Charlie posing nicely. I made this blanket before I became a designer when I used to consume Leisure Arts Afghan books. I used pore over those books for hours choosing which afghan I would make next! This one is used daily by our family. You've heard me say before, I think we have 11 crocheted blankets that we use on the beds and couches around the house.

Scavenger hunt

I need to devise a scavenger hunt for you. There are so many of my designs "out there" but I don't know where they ended up (on the cutting room floor? in the discontinued yarn pile?). I should come up with prizes, but I'm not sure how to do it...

Here's some clues of what I'm keeping my eye out for:

1. A toddler topper with fly style.
2. I'm blue and I'm drinking with two hands.
3. I'm so cold I wish my cover had a head pocket.
4. ebb and flow, ebb and flow, over my shoulders but not over my head.
5. Cloudy, cloudy, is there a baby hidden in there somewhere?

Today, I'm working on a hat that I want to be a showstopper. My methods of choice are Complex construction and fantastic yarn.

Oh yeah, we took the kids bowling over break. We had a good fun family time!

Jim's Driftwood Cap

Hi Jim! Our good friend Jim, has been a supporter of GoCrochet and reads often though he is not really interested in taking up the craft himself. His only complaint about GoCrochet? I need to smile more. :) I made this Driftwood Cap for him out of Elsebeth Lavold Classic AL (Alpaca).

White and Pink Driftwwod cap

I guess I surprised her when I snuck up after church and took this photo, huh? It matches her coat rather well! I'm glad I decided to make white the main color. It is very hard to match perfectly the shade of pink. Looks like she has already been wearing it, the poor flowers are looking a little droopy.

Me and Chickee

Me and Chickee! You can see a little corner of LaVonne Best's "Short and Sweet". She has some really beautiful things! I especially love everything on pages 5 and 6 of her pattern sale pages. The bolero I have on was in the Debbie Stoller "Stitch and Bitch Crochet" book. The all-over lace pattern can be intimidating if you let it. But, I tell you, follow the pattern to the letter and Lavonne will get you through. I followed this pattern with NO frogging. None. Awesome. I need to get you a better photo.

Glass Cozies

Glass Cozies. Does anyone use these anymore? Apparently my Mother-in-law's neighbor does! My MiL asked me to make some for her neighbor last summer. These are made of Debbie Bliss, I think it's Cotton Aran (?) in a light blue color and a light green color. I bought the yarn at the CGOA conference in 2006 in King of Prussia PA. We were living with my MIL at the time while my husband was finishing up the building of our house. Then I made a few for my MIL from Patons Katrina (which I think has since been discontinued).

My Mom used to use glass cozies. They were a stretchy loop fabric, I thought it was cotton, but I don't know. And there were about 6 of them in cool 70's striped patterns (all different). She used to use them on the bottom of her glass of iced tea in the summertime. I would used them on the tall thin Tupperware plastic cups. I wonder whatever happened to them. I remember right where she kept them in the drawer in the mint green kitchen.

Well, I don't use glass cozies anymore, (again, they were very practical, why don't I use them?) but I have started making "coasters" for around the house. The first couple were my early knit lessons. Then I made a few crochet ones. I need to photograph them for you!
